In a statement, Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Kolkata Metro said, “Metro Railway is going to run night-long services…to facilitate all to see the famous Durga Pujas in and around Kolkata.” These services will be available only on the North-South Corridor of the city’s rapid transit system.
Timings of Train services from October 20-27, 2023:-
- On October 20, the Metro Railway will run 288 services (144 UP and 144 Down) for the convenience of the Metro passengers from 06:50 hours till midnight. At peak hours, the Metros will be available at a gap of 5-6 minutes.
- On October 21,22 and 23, the Kolkata Metro will run 248 services (124 UP and 124 Down) from 12:55 hours to 05:00 hrs. During peak hours, Metros will be available at a 6-7 minutes interval.
- On October 24, the Kolkata Metro will operate 132 services (66 UP and 66 Down) from 13:00 hours to 23:00 hrs. The Metros will be available at an interval of seven minutes during peak hours.
- On October 25,26 and 27, the Metro Railway will operate 234 services from 06:50 hours to 22:35 hours. During peak hours, the Metros will be available at a 7 minutes interval.

The Kolkata Metro authorities have tightened the security in view of the huge rush at different metro stations and in trains. The move aims at averting any untoward incident in Metro premises and to make the journey safe and secured. Adequate number of RPF have been deployed to regulate passenger movement and take necessary action to avert any sudden crowd build up.

What is the time of metro service on puja in Kolkata?
ON SAPTAMI, ASHTAMI AND NAVAMI
The Metro Railway will run 72 (36 East-bound + 36 West-bound) services in East-West Metro (Green Line) on Saptami (October 21, 2023), Ashtami (October 22, 2023) and Navami (October 23, 2023) for the convenience of the Metro passengers from 11.55 am to 00.00 pm at night.
Which things are not allowed in Kolkata Metro?
Any person while travelling in Metro Railway may carry only small items of personal baggage, e.g. , Tiffin basket, small hand bag or attache case in addition to umbrella or walking sticks required for personal use. The Metro will run 72 services on the East-West Metro (Green Line) on Saptami (October 21), Ashtami (October 22) and Navami (October 23) for the convenience of passengers.
The metro services will start at 11.55 am and will continue till midnight. Metros will be available at an interval of 20 minutes in this corridor.
SCHEDULE
The first service will start at 11.55 am from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector V. While from Salt Lake Sector V, the first service will start at 12 noon to Sealdah.
The last service will start at 11.35 pm from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector V. While from Salt Lake Sector V, the last service will start at 11.40 pm to Sealdah.
On Dashami (October 24), the Metro will run 48 services (24 Eastbound and 24 Westbound) from 11:55 am to 8 pm. Metros will be available at an interval of 20 minutes in this corridor.
The first service will start at 11.55 am from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector V. While from Salt Lake Sector V, the first service will start at 12 noon to Sealdah.
The last service will start at 7.35 pm from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector V. While from Salt Lake Sector V, the last service will start at 7.40 pm to Sealdah.
The normal schedule will resume from October 25.
However, on the Purple Line, there will be no services available on the Joka-Taratala stretch on Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Dashami.
